The Company:

GKY is an established water resources engineering, policy, and planning consulting firm specializing in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrology, water quality, and regulatory compliance. While we are a certified small business, we are recognized as a national leader in water resources, solving complex problems for the Department of Transportation, the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the National Academies, and other federal and local municipal agencies as well as private clients. We have offices in Chantilly, Virginia (in the Washington, DC metropolitan area) and Richmond, Virginia.

The Opportunity:

GKY is seeking a highly motivated applicant to provide technical assistance for our water resources projects, with a focus on assisting senior staff and clients with Clean Water Act regulatory compliance tasks. The successful applicant will have good organizational skills, experience working with local government, and be able to effectively interpret regulations in order to develop written policy and procedures. Applicants should have a working knowledge of municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) regulations and requirements and experience in total maximum daily load (TMDL) plan development, strategy and implementation. The successful applicant will also offer the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts, both orally and in writing to various groups. Experience in facilitation of small groups in a public forum is a plus. This opportunity offers the applicant a chance to work directly with senior staff and grow professionally. The preferred location for this opportunity is in the firm’s Chantilly office.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Environmental Science, Urban/Environmental Planning, or other discipline related water resources planning, MS preferred
  • Experience with Clean Water Act programming compliance and implementation, with specific experience with MS4 and TMDL programming
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Skills in the Microsoft Office software package, including PowerPoint®
  • Public meeting facilitation skills and experience is a plus
  • Ability to perform occasional fieldwork in difficult terrain and year-round weather conditions
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorized to work in the United States
