Water Resources Engineer

The Opportunity:

The successful applicant will manage and perform the engineering duties required for water resources projects, including modeling and design. The position includes “doing” as well as “managing”, and most of our projects support municipal clients throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Additionally, the successful applicant will assist in mentoring junior staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to investigate resilience, storm drainage issues, floodplain studies, stream restoration, dam safety analyses, and stormwater management designs.
  • Assist with development of design drawings and specifications for stormwater facilities and drainage infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare client deliverables such as reports (including figures and tables), technical memoranda, cost estimates, and computer models.
  • Conduct background research on technical issues and contribute to reports and memoranda.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, with course work in water resources (including hydrology and hydraulics).
  • EIT (minimum) or Licensed Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia (preferred).
  • 3 to 8 years of professional experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and related design projects.
  • Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic software (e.g., SWMM, HEC-RAS)
  • Proficiency with mapping and data analysis using ArcGIS
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, ability to pass a DMV record check, and be insurable
  • Must be dependable, responsible, and have good communications skills
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
