GKY Reselected for Stormwater Engineering Services Contract by Loudoun County, Virginia

Loudoun County recently selected GKY to provide professional services in support of the Loudoun County Stormwater Management Program. This contract will assist the County with ongoing development and execution of its Stormwater Management Program to meet the requirements and intent of Virginia’s Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permitting process and support a viable Stormwater Management Program that minimizes localized flooding and reduces the discharge of pollutants into receiving waterways. County program activities supported under this contract may include TMDL action planning, BMP inspection, stormwater conveyance structure inspection, illicit discharge inspection, investigations, studies, analyses, engineering design, geotechnical analysis, infrastructure location and mapping, preparation of reports, preparation of drawings and specifications, developing cost estimates, developing plans and programs for public education and outreach, and other work as necessary for Loudoun County to develop and execute BMPs as required by the Virginia Small MS4 General Permit. GKY has been providing similar services to Loudoun County for the past twenty-plus years and is excited to continue this support!

GKY Awarded Stormwater Financing Feasibility Study Contract with City of Martinsburg, West Virginia

GKY has been selected by the City of Martinsburg to conduct a stormwater financing feasibility study. The study is intended to provide recommendations for a long-term, dedicated funding stream that is both equitable and effective in generating sufficient revenue for the City to maintain a comprehensive stormwater program. The project will also have a significant focus on engaging the community during the process, via multiple outlets, to give a wide variety of City stakeholders a voice in the continued development and implementation of the City’s Stormwater Program.

New hire bolsters GKY’s stormwater compliance practice

CHANTILLY, Va. (January 13, 2014) — GKY & Associates, Inc., an industry leader in water resources, announces the hiring of Max Kuker as Water Resources Project Manager. Max will work with local municipalities to develop and implement stormwater programming to ensure regulatory compliance.

“Max provides unmatched expertise in State and Federal MS4 audit processes,” said Stu Stein, President of GKY. “His capabilities will allow us better serve our municipal clients, finding solutions to the growing challenges associated with Clean Water Act compliance.”

Max brings more than 16 years of water resources compliance experience to GKY. He most recently worked as senior compliance specialist and project manager for an EPA contractor. Throughout his career Max has focused his efforts on wet weather compliance, primarily in support of EPA Headquarters, several EPA regions, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). Max has conducted over 40 traditional and non-traditional (i.e., universities and departments of transportation) Phase I and II MS4 compliance inspections in numerous EPA Regions throughout the country (including Region 3). In addition, Max oversaw the review of more than 400 annual reports in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania for EPA Region 3. Max has also participated in the development of MS4 training program materials, and served as lead instructor for training workshops to educate company staff, federal, and state inspectors on proper construction, industrial and MS4 audit and inspection protocols.
